1971 message in a bottle from Carlisle boy washes up in Scotland


An Australian couple have found a message in a bottle on Scotland’s north-east coast that was written by a 14-year-old Carlisle boy in 1971.
Sean and Shelley Thomas found the bottle in a sand dune at Rattray Head on Scotland's north-east coast.
The note inside, written by then 14-year-old Raymond Davidson, is dated 15 January 1971.The note inside says: “This bottle was thrown in the sea at Cove Aberdeen on 15/1/71 by Raymond Davidson, 62 Ullswater Road, Carlisle.”
The couple said: “We are going to visit the address when we head back South but we would love to try and track him down in case he no longer lives at the same address.”
Mr Davidson would now be aged appox 58.
Cumbria Crack has discovered a Raymond Davidson of about the same age living at 23 Kirkstead Close in Carlisle but has been unable to contact him.
