"Albino
hatchlings are extremely rare; it probably occurs at the rate of one in many
hundreds of thousands of eggs that are laid," species expert Dr Col
Limpus told ABC News. An
already threatened species, this makes the albino turtle incredibly rare and
due to it's unique colour the chances that it will reach maturity are even
slimmer - about one in a thousand.
Despite the
odds being stacked against him volunteers of the group report that the turtle
made it from the beach to the ocean safely. Here's to hoping he lives long
enough to reach full maturity!
