Bayern Munich
boss Pep Guardiola will reportedly leave the club at the end of the season,
with Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti to replace him at the Allianz Arena, club Chief Executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said on
Sunday.
The former Barcelona coach's contract at
Bayern expires at the end of the season and he has been strongly linked
with the Premier League club, as questioned continue to be asked of Manuel
Pellegrini’s leadership at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola is
rated as one of the finest managers in the game. Not only has he helped Bayern
Munich to consecutive league titles, but in his previous role as Barcelona boss
he assembled a team some consider to be the greatest in the history of
football; he won the La Liga three times and two Champions League titles during
a four-year stint with the club.
"We are thankful to
Guardiola for all he gave our club and hope to celebrate more success in the
current season," Rummenigge told Bild newspaper.
