Five passengers injured after roof of double-decker bus is completely RIPPED OFF by tree

Five people have been injured after a double-decker bus had its roof ripped off on a busy shopping street in central London on Monday.

Scotland Yard and Transport for London have both launched investigations into the "freak incident", which saw the roof of the bus being wrenched off and left "hanging by a thread" at around 1pm.

Pictures from the scene showed the 91 bus' which runs between Crouch End and Trafalgar Square , damaged roof lying among shattered glass near the London School of Economics in central London.
Kingsway is currently closed between Great Queen St and Aldwych, and the Strand underpass is also shut.There are long queues in the surrounding areas.

London Fire Brigade tweeted: "We are at the scene of an accident on #Kingsway Holborn. A bus has lost its roof. Thankfully only minor injuries."
A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We treated five patients. We treated two patients for facial injuries, they were taken to St Thomas's Hospital.

"We treated two patients for minor injuries, they were not taken to hospital. We treated another patient for a knee injury. This patient was discharged at the scene."
