French tests on 359-year-old body

French scientists have carried out tests on the remarkably well-preserved body of a 17th Century woman found in the north-western city of Rennes, the BBC reports.
They say they believe the 1.45m (5ft) remains are those of Louise de Quengo - a noblewoman who died in 1656.
"We've got soft tissue - organs - to work with. This is unprecedented in archaeology," forensic doctor Fabrice Dedouit said.
The body of the woman - still wearing her cap and shoes - was found in 2014.
It was discovered at a construction site for a convention centre.
The forensic team says a post-mortem examination and scans showed "significant kidney stones" and "lung adhesions", according to the AFP news agency.
The woman's heart was also taken out "with real surgical mastery", say the scientists.
The woman is believed to have been in her 60s when she died.
The remains were discovered in a lead sarcophagus in March last year.
The heart of Toussaint de Perrein - believed to be the woman's husband - was found in a heart-shaped urn nearby.
There were about 800 other graves at the site, but they only contained skeletons.
The scientists say the clothes on the woman's body have been restored and are expected to be put on display.

Aisha Buhari’s Inauguration Wristwatch Cost £34,500

Investigations by BREAKING TIMES on Monday revealed that Aisha Buhari, wife of the President of Nigeria wore a Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold Diamond Ladies Watch that cost £34,500 to President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration on Friday, May 29 2015.
The equivalent of this at the current Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) foreign exchange rate of N303 to £1 is N10, 453, 000 (Ten Million, Four Hundred and Fifty Three Thousand Naira).
The Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold Diamond Ladies Watch comes in a case made of rhodiumised white gold set with brilliant-cut diamonds. On the side of the case is an octagonal crown set with a diamond. The case is 44mm high, 35mm wide and 10mm thick and is covered by glare-proof sapphire crystal glass.President Muhamdu Buhari was elected riding on the wave of strong anti-corruption, integrity and pro-masses sentiment.
This shocking extravagance by Mrs. Buhari runs contrary to earlier indications that the Buharis are modest and the President, a pastoral farmer with 150 cows, barely raised the money to pay for his presidential nomination form.

Nigerian oil tanker crash kills 70

A large truck drove into 12 buses in a crowded terminal in the city of Onitsha in Anambra State, setting off a large fire on Monday.
The driver of the oil tanker lost control and crashed into a crowded motor park. At the latest count 70 people have been confirmed dead while 29 people were in hospital with serious burns.
“Most people were burned beyond recognition,” said Emeka Kachi, vice-president of the local Red Cross. “We are transferring the corpses to a teaching hospital for DNA testing so that their relatives can identify them for a proper burial.”
Reports also said that Willy Obiano, the governor of the state was moved to tears at his visit to the scene of the incident which he described as unfortunate.
The accident came five days after the end of a strike by fuel marketers who halted distribution as part of a pay dispute with the outgoing government, which was replaced on Friday by an administration led by former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari.
While Nigeria is Africa’s biggest crude oil producer, neglected refineries mean it is almost wholly reliant on imports for the 40 million litres of gasoline it consumes each day.

Vitamins can cause allergic reactions

A GERMAN dermatologist says it's particularly true of fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D and E.
"The supplements often contain peanut, coconut or soybean oil," said Reinhard Mrotzek of the German Dermatologists Association.
"These ingredients help the body to absorb and use the vitamin."
Taking a vitamin D supplement, for example, can cause allergic reactions such as hives or eczema.
Instead of experimenting with the dose to alleviate the reactions, sufferers should see a doctor, advised Mrotzek, noting that an overdose is very unlikely if the recommended daily intake is followed."Over-the-counter supplements have low doses," he said.Symptoms of a vitamin D overdose include diarrhoea, headache and nausea.
No one should take vitamin D merely as a "prophylactic measure", he said.Supplements were only advisable if a doctor had detected a vitamin D deficiency in the body.
