Homeless chess champion from Nigeria 'gets apartment' after crowdfund

Homeless chess champion from Nigeria 'gets apartment' after crowdfund.
More than $180,000 was raised for him after he won New York State's chess championship. The money means that Tanitoluwa Adewumi 8 years old US chess champion and his family will be able to move out of the homeless shelter they've lived in for the last two years, according to reports.
Tanitoluwa moved to New York City with his family two years ago as refugees from Nigeria. The family has been living in a homeless shelter and his parents say he can only practice the game on the floor. That hasn't stopped Tanitoluwa's unwavering dedication to improving his chess prowess.
Tanitoluwa, meanwhile, is preparing for the national championship in May. “I want to be the youngest grandmaster in the world,” Tanitoluwa said.

The bipartisan agreement announced on Friday covers just three weeks.
Mr Trump indicated he might trigger another shutdown or declare a national emergency if his demands are not met.
The Republican  president has vowed to reject any budget unless Congress includes $5.7bn to fund his signature campaign pledge. The Democratic Party, which controls the House of Representatives, has flatly refused.

Thai girl band BNK48 sorry for Nazi T-shirt controversy

One of Thailand's most popular pop bands has apologised, after a member wore a T-shirt with a Nazi swastika on stage during a televised rehearsal.
Photos of BNK48 singer  Pichayapa "Namsai" Natha with the shirt went viral this weekend, causing the Israeli embassy to express "shock and dismay".
The CEO of BNK48, and the 19-year-old singer, have met the Israeli ambassador and apologized.
Images of Hitler, swastikas and other Nazi regalia are fairly commonplace on T-shirts and memorabilia in Thailand, a phenomenon blamed on a lack of historical understanding rather than political leanings.
The latest faux pas was committed by Pichayapa "Namsai" Natha, one of the singers of BNK48, when she wore the red-and-black top complete with a swastika during the group's rehearsal on Friday.
The deputy chief of mission of the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok took to Twitter to express "shock and dismay" at the outfit, given that Sunday is International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Too young to retire - Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho says he is "too young" to consider retirement as he spoke for the first time since he was sacked by ManUnited.
Mourinho, who was appearing as a pundit for Qatar-based broadcaster beIN Sports on its coverage of the Asian Cup, says he still belongs at the top level.
The 55-year-old had not spoken to the media since his dismissal in December.
"I want to coach. I belong to top-level football and [that] is where I am going to be," Mourinho said.
"I am too young, I am in football for a long, long time but I will be 56 in a couple of weeks and am really too young."
Mourinho said he was proud of what he achieved at Manchester United, particularly finishing second behind Manchester City in the 2017-18 season.
He said: "If I tell you for example that I consider one of the best jobs of my career was to finish second with ManUnited in the Premier League, you say 'this guy is crazy - he won 25 titles...'
Mourinho will provide punditry for beIN on Thursday's Asian Cup group match between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, as well as for Saturday's Premier League game between Arsenal and his former club Chelsea.
It is understood beIN are paying Mourinho in excess of £120,000 for his two appearances.
